Second Hospice Completed
Gates Construction consultants of Barnstaple this week announced that the new hospice for Children’s Hospice South West at Charlton Farm, Wraxall, near Bristol, is now complete.
It is the second hospice developed by CHSW to provide sanctuary for families with children who have life-limiting conditions.
The £8million project, the conversion of a listed farm on the Tyntesfield Estate, will provide much-needed facilities for the South West.
Gates chartered quantity surveyors also acted on the development of Little Bridge House at Fremington, the first hospice for CHSW completed 12 years ago and a blueprint for hospice design throughout the world.
Originally a derelict model farm set into rolling pasture and woodlands on the side of a gentle valley, it has taken the consultants involved in this project five years to turn Charlton Farm into the superb building seen today. To celebrate this success story they jointly organised an event to unveil the project to invited guests and regional press before CHSW officially open the doors of Charlton Farm to families on April 30.
