A £1.7M design and build project comprising the demolition of the existing Raglan Barracks building and the construction and completion of 24 new dwellings comprising 7 new 2 bed, 14 new 3 bed and 3 new 4 bed general needs dwellings together with associated external works, services and drainage.

Project:

Gates Partnership acted in an Employer’s Agent role for the redevelopment of Cumberland Block, a former naval barracks, to provide twenty-four dwellings for affordable rent. The success of the scheme was the catalyst for the accelerated redevelopment of the Devonport area of Plymouth.

The development comprises a quadrangle around which are centred two and three storey dwellings, replicating the form and layout of the historic Naval barracks. The development provides an open and pleasant environment into which residents were decanted during the initial Devonport redevelopments.
